The St. Mary Fireworks Factory Mqabba - MALTA will take part in the CAPUT LUCIS 2007 in Rome during the 1st week of August.
The St. Mary Fireworks Factory Mqabba - MALTA came from the small village of Mqabba of around 3,000 inhabitants.
The Fireworkers in this Factory all work on voluntary basis and their main aim is to make Fireworks for the local patron Saint SANTA MARIJA 9-15 August of every year.
Fireworks were already being made during the end of the 19th Century. This Factory saw the Origin of many types of Fireworks in Malta that later influenced other Factories. One can mention the Famous Univesal Concept in 1961, Clock and Calculator and Computer working with Fire in the Ground Fireworks. In areal Fireworks We can mention Mutali bil-Lob way back in the 1920s, Dark Flash 1991, Bebux, Various Shapes and also Letters. This Factory was the 1st to introduce Fireworks Synchronised to Music in Malta in 1997.
Most of the Fireworks in Malta for the Silver Jubilee of King George V celebrations was made by this Factory.
This Factory was cammision to make the Ground Fireworks Display for the Carnival Cities Convention that was held in Gozo (Malta) in 2005. One of the Most prestigious Displays was during the CHOGM2005 Meeting after a Baquet given by HRH QUEEN ELISABETH II for 52 Heads of States from Commonwealth Countries on 25 November 2005 in Malta.
In 2006 this Factory won the 1st Malta International Fireworks Festival. In December 2006 thsi Factory was commisioned to give 2 displays for Thomas Cook International Conference in Malta.
The main aim of thes Factory will always reamin the Feast of SANTA MARIJA patron Saint of Mqabba.
