Saint Andrew's Feast in Luqa, Malta - 2005 - 125th Anniversary of the Union Club.

Dear Friends in Fireworks,
Hope that you are very fine.

I am writing you to inform you about the fireworks programm 2005 of the Saint Andrew's Feast held in Luqa and our clubs 125th anniversary celebrations.

The celebrations will take place in two whole weeks:
from Monday 20th to Sunday 3rd.
The second week will be the main week of celebrations as traditionaly takes place.
During the first week there will be some fireworks but the second week is full of fireworks.

The main shows will be:

Saturday 2nd July (eave of feast) Day light and night time shows and also mechanized ground fireworks shows (chatrine wheels).

Sunday 3rd July (feast day) a unique Day time show with unique shells only done by our group and also night time show.


There will also be an open day at the fireworks factory were you can come and take a tour around the factory.

Please note that for this year, 2005, which happens to be our clubs 125th anniversary, this feast has been planned for years! and work is currently getting finalized and we hope that now we will see the fruits of our labour. Anyone attending will surely enjoy his/her time.

Please also note that as a tradition in our Village we have two clubs which compete against eachother and thus there will be more that one fireworks show on each night and day full of healthy competition. Luqa will be full off fireworks. Also visitors will gett to enjoy the traditional band marches and fun times along the streets and main sqaure and also the beautifull decorations put up for the occassion of wich the likes are only found in Luqa.

The 2 fireworks Factories of Luqa Village will have there own shows from 2 different fireing point in Luqa. Shows will take place in the whole week reaching its climax on Saturday 2nd July and Sunday 3rd July. The best Daytime shows will be on Sunday 3rd July at around 7pm (which is still good day light in Malta at that time in these summer days).

I will post pics and movies after the shows.

Our Factory and our main rivals Fatory will make the shows. Loads of fireworks each day from each factory, but mainly on the 2nd and 3rd July. The factories will make the shows mostly at the same time from different fireing points in Luqa. The main shows will take approx. 2 hours each.

Please note that this is not a competition for medals or money. All fireworkers are volunters and do these big shows from their own pockets and donations. and do the shows for honours. And to keep a strong maltese tradition alive. The maltese village festa.

The feast will officialy end today. The fireworks shows are over with great succsess (exluding a very unfortunate accident wich injured a geart fireworker of ours but thank god its not very bad and we wish him all the best).

Soon I will post some pictures on this forum and when the videos are uploaded on our website www.unionbandmalta.org, I will let you know right away.

Please give me some time / days, because I have a lot of videos and photos to sort out. some 500 video clips!!!!!! I will chose some of the best pictures taken from the clips and post them. Thanks again.
