ver 100,000 firework effects were set off in all of Alberta combining the 15 simultaneous displays that were set off with synch to music. The total cost $800,000 for this historical event.

Custom made effects from Spain including one that looked like the province's official flower the Western Red Lily.


Saskatchewan and Alberta both officially entered Confederation on Sept. 1, 1905, but Saskatchewan saved its centennial party for Sunday -- the anniversary of when the documents were actually signed in Regina.

Saskatchewan musicians such as Theresa Sokyrka, Brad Johner and Colin James entertained the crowed during the day.

The man behind this great firework show, Chico Ruggieri, owns and operates the company Ruggeri Fireworks.

"I am feeling a little bit stressed about it," Ruggieri says with a laugh, "We've poured our heart and soul into this show. It's designed for our fellow Saskatchewanians. There is a lot of feeling," he said.

At 9:39 p.m. the skies lit up simultaneously 15 communities in Regina, Saskatoon, Estevan, Weyburn, Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Yorkton, Melville, Humboldt, Melfort, La Ronge, Prince Albert, Meadow Lake, LLoydminster, The Battelfords "I hope, after 30 minutes, that the people will go away extremely proud not only of what Saskatchewan has accomplished as a province, but our potential across the nation," Ruggieri says.

His company has been going on 16 hour days in the past few months alone.
