MALTA – THE ISLAND OF FIREWORKS
PACKAGE PROPOSAL TO VISIT THE ISLAND DURING THE CLIMAX DAYS OF THE FIREWORKS SEASON
Malta is considered as the “island of fireworks”. More than 35 fireworks factories produce their own fireworks for their annual celebrations in honour of their villages patron saints. The Maltese Fireworks Companies are not commercial but all pyrotechnician work on voluntary basis and fireworks is their passion.
It is well known throughout the pyro-world that certain fireworks which one can enjoy in the island of Malta are unique and that’s why it’s a must for every fireworks enthusiast or pyrotechnician to be in Malta for at least once in a lifetime….. to witness with his own eyes what it means to have a fireworks show…. Mostly manufactured in the old traditional way….
We handle the yearly organisation of the Malta International Fireworks Festival, which this year was held just a few days ago from the 1st to the 4th May. During these days, we invited a number of foreign pyrotechnician and fireworks enthusiasts from all over the world and we offered a good package for them including a Maltese fireworks factories tour.
From the comments we received, we were urged to create a similar package for the local fireworks season. In our small island, one can enjoy fireworks almost everyday in summer from mid May till mid October. Each local fireworks factory produces fireworks for all villages and towns which celebrate their annual traditional “festa” in honour of their respective saint.
The climax is reached on the days around the 15th August – St. Mary’s feast, where 7 towns and villages organise their own respective celebration – and so one can say that the sky over this small island is basically painted with fireworks which are fired through all these days from different localities…. which are just a few minutes away from each other.
So we decided to invite you to come over and be part of these unique fireworks celebrations…….. We have prepared this programme for all those interested to join.
Tuesday 12th August
Arrivals of all guests….. all of you interested - pyrotechnicians and fireworks enthusiasts from all over the world
Transport to a Hotel in St. Julian’s – Malta’s entertainment Mecca.
We will take you to a restaurant in a typical Maltese village, where we have dinner together late in the evening…. A dinner, where traditional Maltese food will be served. Over there, you will have the perfect chance to exchange fireworks ideas and introduce yourselves to each other.
Wednesday 13th August
In the morning, we will take you for a tour around some of the local fireworks factories, where you will be able to meet the local pyrotechnicians face to face and admire the way they manufacture the local fireworks.
While we are roving around from one village to another, we will try to find some time to take you also to admire one or two of the highly decorated churches – just decorated for these particular St. Mary celebrations
In the evening, we will go to see fireworks displays – aerial and ground.
You will have the chance also to join up in one of these typical community celebrations, where you will be amazed when you see how the locals celebrate by even “dancing” and singing in the streets accompanied with the village brass bands and fireworks from roof tops.
Thursday 14th August
In the morning, we will visit various fireworks sites, which different pyro teams will be setting up the pyro musical displays and even the mechanical ground fireworks for the evening.
This is the night……..The night of “Santa Maria” …. the climax of Malta’s fireworks season!!!
We will take you early in the evening at around 18 hrs to enjoy a display of unique daylight fireworks. We will try to go from one village to another to see as much fireworks displays as possible
Later on, you will have your seats and enjoy the pyro musical display including also multi break colour shells by St. Mary Fireworks Company of Mqabba – Winners of last year’s Caput Lucis Festival in Rome.
But that’s not all …. The night is not long enough for the amount of fireworks prepared for the evening. Mechanical ground fireworks – a Maltese unique will end your day with a bang!!!
Friday 15th August
During the day you’re free to do what you want to….. … Don’t forget its Summer time and you must remember that you are on island. A few meters away from the Hotel… you can find one of Malta’s beautiful beaches… …So why don’t you spend the day relaxing on the beach!!!
Early in the evening, we will pick you up once more and we will go to enjoy another night…. full of fireworks displays, both daylight ones and even the traditional multi break shells which will be fired from 19hrs till 23 hrs continuously during the whole night from various venues … which some of them are clearly visible from one site.
You will also enjoy the traditional festa day religious processions with the statues of St. Mary.
Saturday 16th August
Fireworks time is over… and its time for departure. But we are sure, that your stay will be unforgettable… and what you will see you will definitely remember forever amongst your fireworks experiences.
Low cost airlines such as Ryan Air are now operating direct flights to Malta…..Just take a look and try to find the best way for you to be here for this unique annual event.
