Perhaps I should do this in English, so that our English speaking fireworks friends can join in the discussion... My original idea or question was...
Could it be that the famous worlwide known "Black Cat" label has in it's origin anything to do with the Dutch Kat of Leiden?? Especially if you look closely at the catalogue, you will see that Kat in Leiden was founded in 1720. Now I think I know just a little bit of the history of fireworks, and as far as I can tell, not much was happening outside of Europe in terms of trading houses of fireworks.
However, it
seems that "...in China, "black cats" are a symbol of "luck and good fortune", this fact being the basis for Black Cat Fireworks... The Brand was introduced in the US in the 1940's by Li & Fung, one of the largest ... Trading Companies in China, became a Registered Trademark in 1952 and is now the oldest and most highly recognized fireworks brand in the country"...
So, I guess that the answer to my own question is, No, since black cats are symbols of luck and fortune, it is not likely that there is a connection.
Other opinions comments are of course most welcome!
