This was a piece that i have writen a few months ago in Dutch for the frontpage. But know Fallas has ended i want that all of you can read it. I have translated it with google and some word will be strange but i think you all can understand what i have writen.

Become an upcoming edition of Fallas 2008 less spectacular? Yesterday known to the public that Ricardo Caballer will not fire a eveningshow and Mascleta at the upcoming edition. This stems from different thinking between Ricasa and the organising parties JCF (Junta Central Fallera) in the municipality of Valencia. For my and many others who will travel upcoming March to Valencia, this was a kind of shock to hear. Ricardo Caballer is seen by many as 1 of the best shooters that Spain and the world is rich.

His evening displays during Fallas have always been very good and Mascletas even superior. And now in 2008 we will need to miss this. It is not that the other shooters are not good but the last 4 years, Ricardo Caballer is the number 1 of Valencia and then as a lover you look forward to the day when their show and mascleta will take place. You feel as if it were an extra kind of tension and you are just as nervous as the shooters itself because there is always something new displayed. And now we will feel this on the 17th of March less because there will not be a ricardo. Not the father nor the son!

Personally, I think you always must shoot on a festival like Fallas in your own city. But I also think it is good that there is a company that stands up and says it's not quite agree with the state of affairs and they just dont shoot. It is a known problem that the fireworks companys not have the budgets that they actually belong to. But because it is an honor to shoot at the festival, the most simply agree. Between Ricasa and organizing parties there are several differences than those on the budget but it adorns a company that dont shoot and speak out for itself.

The party of Fallas will continue with or without Ricasa but it misses 1 of its stars and that is very unfortunate. I hope that the competition element be maintained so that we can still enjoy shooters like Vicente Caballer, Pirotecnia Turis, Zamorano Caballer and the company as a newcomer who will take over the evening and day of Ricardo.

For the rest, we are all gwoon enjoy all the beauty that this party has to offer. Less spectualair? We will see how the party has been 20th of March when we sit back on the plane to go home and of course we will discuss this in detail at the forum and the stories, like every year, hopefully supported by beautiful videos of evening displays and mascletas.

My english writing is not the best so i hope you can all understand me.

Let me come back to my piece that I wrote it when we were told that Ricardo would not shoot in 2008 during Fallas celebrations.

I must be honest and can only say that I have missed Ricardo Caballer during Fallas 2008. Instead of Ricardo Caballer we have seen a very good show by Pirotecnia Valenciana but Zamorano caballer and Vicente caballer dindt shoot a show for my top 10. Ricardo never and never give us a little show and never it was to fast.

This year Zamorano caballer shoot to many shells that where not complete burning and its timing was very bad in my feeling. And instead that Vicente Caballer grabs his chance to turn the absence of Ricardo to his hands he shot a very very fast show. The nit de foc had a duration of 14 minutes wich is not done at the nit de foc. The show must have a duration of 18 to 22 minutes.

And what happens next? Vicente is saying the same as the others and Ricardo has done for years.

The mascleta of Ricardo is also a loss on the square. Every year one of loudest and most violent mascletas on the square and we sure missed that. One time it's gone wrong when there was rain and there was a lot of material become wet but for the rest there is always a top rithym and the shooting is always filled with emotion as this year Valenciana has done.

Fallas de Valencia without Ricardo Caballer less spectacular? Yes for my 1000% sure,.

Ricardo not firing was sad, but I think he is making a valid point......

A number of people I have spoken to have said that the riverbed castillos were not as good as they have been. Perhaps the main companies have sympathy with his stand and are attempting (by reducing the shows) to put pressure on the local authoritites to provide a bigger budget....lets face it the costs of fireworks has not gone down in the last few years and the price rises of this year are very worrying indeed. Hopefully those in power will see that unless they get positive reports people will simply stop going. As I have repeatedly said I wasn't there this year, but I have watched enough shows to give an opinion when I see the movies for myself.

2005 was the best year for me....by a long chalk.....

I wasn't there in 2005  but the videos I have seen looked fantastic.
I have been there for the past 3 years, and none of the displays have come close to those in 2005. In fact, I have always anticipated the displays by Ricardo, but I feel in recent years they have not been as good as in the past.
This year, there were some good displays, but they were very short, way too short for my liking. The nit de foc was the longest one, and it was very good but no where near the duration of previous years.
One benefit was that my neck wasn't too sore from looking up at the sky for 20 mins :blink1:
