7 kinds of fireworks products wil be banned to export in Liuyang?

Liuyang Fireworks Association (It's a quasi-official organization) released a draft rule due to the current serious situation the day before yesterday and it regulates that 7 kinds of fireworks products should be banned to export in future, they are:

Phosphorous products

Match Firecracker

Semi-finished products with chemicals

Products with red strobe or green strobe

Cold flames/ Handheld products

All fireworks&firecrackers which igniters attached

Over 6" Display Shells

We are in the English section of the forum. So please copy the new to the Dutch section or try to speaky any English:nuts:!! I think they refer to the recent explosions in the harbor. This is a very big big problem. For the European manufactors this is better (maybe) news because they can start and sell more of there products.

For the Importers of Chinese fireworks this will be very bad!

It mostly seems to fit in with recent UN regs anyway.....anything with ignitors and 7"+ has been the rule for some time....I am told by those with more knowledge than me that the red and green issue probably relates to strobes.

As Tony says it good news for the home grown industries whilst they will be more exspensive at least they will now have a market.

In order to maintain safety during transportation and storage of fireworks, Liuyang Fireworks Association announces 7 types of fireworks forbidden for production, transport and export:
1> Semi-products
2> Fireworks and firecrackers containing phosphorus
3> Strike surface / friction ignited type of fireworks
4> Smokeless fireworks
5> Red strobe or green strobe products
6> Fireworks with igniters attached
7> Shells larger than 6"

this has not really been much of an option over here down under where our english is better than our dutch!

Can anyone suggest some good ones?

Not much here in England Kimbolton still manufacture some things but not much.

The Czech Republic are starting to produce some interesting items more on that soon.

Spain and Italy for shells amd candles is a good bet, but of course you cannot forget Malta who produce some amazing stuff, not sure its exported much.

I am sure there are more, maybe people can point to other areas in this neck of the woods that produce fireworks.

Further afield, India has some potential as well......

I am sure once the Olympics are out of the way and wheels of finance need to be greased with the folding stuff, some of these items will come back online.

The interpretation of "red strobe and blue strobe or Red glittering and blue glittering" instead of "Red star and blue star" should be more understandable.


In addition, the above news we just got from Liuyang Fireworks Association, not the final decision or official announcement, Why? Because a lot of fireworks enterprises don't think the draft proposed will be available.

The german company ZINK feuerwerk would also be an option. They produce very high quality shells, rockets ( also salute rockets zink 901 and 902 ), single shots, fountains but are also quite expensive.

The 1.3 fireworks business has become one headache after another. It is also full of uncertaintity and continual tighter and tighter controls which mean more expenses and more labour devoted to paperwork and compliance. I think it has become impossible to bear for a normal business person. If you add these increasing hassles to the existing hassles of 1.3 e.g weekend long hours, seasonality, insurance, danger, lack of co-operation between competitors and slow growth of sales the decision to move into another more rewarding business is much easier now.

The real 'sting in the tail' from 1.3 is felt when something goes wrong. As a business gets bigger this will happen. You can suffer a permanent physical disability from an accident or inflict one on your staff or a member of the public. You can also have your plant blow up which is happenning more frequently across the world. Apart from the immmediate loss you will be dealing with this for the next 3-5 years as all the investigations and lawsuits play out. This will most likely mean the end of your business and will likely destroy all your wealth unless you have structured your financial affairs properly from the outset. My observations is that only the biggest businesses have this in order.

The Govt will prosecute you regardless and the courts these days always will find you at fault and insurance does not cover you for court penalties and legal costs.

If a business person cannot break from 1.3 pyro they should focus more on 1.4/selling fireworks in the interests of their mental and financial health.

An alternative is a business model that shifts the dirty stuff to others e.g shooters. Own a company that contracts with the sponsor/customer and then wholesale product to shooters who take care of everything from that point including legal liability etc. Maybe provide the shooters with some infrastructure that they can hire e.g firing systems, racks, preparation buildings etc etc.

Alas where I am consumer fireworks are illegal and I'm sure that a pyro display company would not last long here using only 1.4. And your suggested alternative would not work well here I don't think

Yes the whole 1.3 is becoming a right royal pain brought on mostly by people who do not do the right thing when dealing with transport etc. You sound pretty disheartened propyro2 - there has to be something at the end of the rainbow
