Batch 2021:
Maybe some of you have already noticed that a few of our items have recently had a small Link Triad Brand logo on the label. However, unlike other companies that revisit old logos, this is not a mere marketing gimmick:.
"Link Triad Brand" was the brand under which the Guangxi Provincial State Export Company marketed all fireworks from this region internationally. This came to an end in the 1990s when the Chinese fireworks industry was privatised.
For a long time, the factories in Guangxi province were known for their high quality fireworks, and were often considered better than fireworks from Hunan or Jiangxi.
Many popular items came from Guangxi - be it the best firebirds, hummers, black powder friction bangers; the original Starkids, Roman lights with gold spark delay, batteries with crazy howling and humming effects, as well as many more.
Today, however, they are either no longer available, or production has been moved to Hunan/Jiangxi and the quality has deteriorated significantly. The reason for this was often that in Guangxi, elaborate, traditional production methods were held on to, and thus the prices were no longer competitive.
Today, there are only a few factories in Guangxi, about 10% of the number that existed 10-15 years ago.
Therefore, it has unfortunately become very difficult to source items from there, as there is no one left who is licensed or even able to produce many of the items.
Nevertheless, we are trying our best to offer our customers in Europe some fireworks from Guangxi again under the link Triad Brand and with an independent design for this line.
This is a 1kg compound with the screeching spinners typical for Guangxi items, which maybe some people still know from old cakeboxes, as well as colored palm / wave effects. The palm effects are actually not so good - in general the most stars which are being used in Guangxi now are stuck on the level of 1990s effects. But we intentionally chose the first items of thise line in a way, so that they contain the classic effects normally used there. The bursts are pretty loud and strong for this caliber, but not so round, as the paper tubes are quite thick (this is necessary, in order to press the screeching spinners, as Guangxi makes whistles etc without plastic tubes) - so combined with the screeching spinning tails this compound creates an impressive accoustics, which the video can´t show at all as the microphone can´t record it properly. Definately no beautiful to watch compound - but one which is a lot of fun to shoot in person, and which by it´s rising effect is quite different from most other items on the market now.
Batch 2022:
You may have noticed that a few of our recent products have a small Link Triad Brand logo on the label. Unlike other companies that revive old logos, this isn't just a marketing gimmick.
"Link Triad Brand" was the brand under which the state-owned export company of Guangxi Province marketed all fireworks from that region internationally. This came to an end in the 1990s with the privatization of the Chinese fireworks industry.
The factories in Guangxi Province were long known for their exceptionally high-quality fireworks, often considered superior to those from Hunan or Jiangxi.
Many popular items came from Guangxi—from the best firebirds and buzzers to black powder friction crackers; the original Starkids; Roman candles with gold spark delay; batteries with crazy howling and buzzing effects; and much more.
Today, however, they are either no longer available, or production has been relocated to Hunan/Jiangxi, resulting in a significant decline in quality. This was often due to Guangxi's adherence to elaborate, traditional manufacturing methods, making prices uncompetitive.
Today, only a few factories remain in Guangxi, roughly 10% of the number that existed 10-15 years ago.
Therefore, it has unfortunately become extremely difficult to source products from there, as there is often no one left who holds the necessary license or is even capable of manufacturing them.
Nevertheless, we are doing our best to offer our European customers a selection of fireworks from Guangxi under the Triad Brand brand, with our own unique design for this line.
This particular item is a 1kg compound firework featuring the typical Guangxi screeching ascent, which some may remember from older fireworks batteries, as well as colorful palm effects and a powerful burst.
The palm flick effects aren't particularly good – generally, most bursting effects used in Guangxi are stuck in the 90s. However, we selected the first items in this line to include the classic effects typically used there.
The bursts are extremely loud and powerful for this caliber, but not as smooth as usual because the cardboard tubes are quite thick (this is necessary to press the screeching swirls, as whistles and other fireworks in Guangxi are pressed without plastic tubes). Together with the screeching ascents, this compound firework provides an impressive acoustic backdrop, which unfortunately doesn't come across at all in the video because the microphone completely muffles everything.
Definitely not a particularly pretty compound firework – but one that's a lot of fun to fire once you start it, and whose ascent effect clearly sets it apart from most batteries currently on the market.
The new batch fires a bit faster than the old one; in the future, we'll increase the burn time of such fast-firing items for safety reasons. However, due to reduced transport costs, we can lower the price by approximately 17.5%; let's just hope that the end customer benefits![]()
Batch 2025:
New batch of Whistling Palms. The first compound we manufactured in Guangxi, still before we started to improve the effects of the factories there. If you'd like to read more about the background of this article or the series of articles from Guangxi, you can find this information under the videos of the older batches of this item. After the factory started producing for us and became more willing to adjust effects, test our formulas, etc., things naturally progressed quite a bit. As a result, the newer compounds (Gold Bomber, Berserk, Wampir, Rebel Yell) from the factory are significantly better in terms of pure effects. Nevertheless, Whistling Palms was the first, and I still enjoy using it live with its rapid succession of weird whistling tails and powerful bursts, even if the quality of the stars is noticeably inferior to the newer products. The new batch is generally similar to the old one, except that the first half shoots a little slower, and the firing rate then becomes significantly faster in the second half, which I personally prefer, as you get more burntime out of the compound, but still have the rapid firing rate in the second half, and also the added contrast to the somewhat slower shooting in the beginning.
