In 1988 the Stardust tower was built in Las Vegas, Nevada for $50 million dollars. This was part of the expansion project of the Stardust hotel created in 1964. Taking 18 months to build this hotel had lived a busy life until new plans called for its destruction. Now in only 18 seconds the whole tower fell to dust. Like every Vegas hotel it came down with a wide variety of Pyrotechnics including almost 2,500 shells and a 10 second countdown timer created with fountains. It took 14 Pyrotechnicians from the company, Fireworks by Grucci of Brookhaven New York, 5 days to setup this display. What are the new plans for this space? An 87 Acre $4.4 Billion dollar 5,000+ rooms complex with 5 hotels a 120,000 square foot casino and the usual retail, convention and restaraunts. Who knows if the APA will be conferencing at one of those hotels in 2010 when it officially opens... but for now click on through to enjoy the implosion from YouTube.
