SITIAWAN: A couple, said to be in possession of fireworks worth RM12,000, have been detained in a raid at three shophouses at Kampung Koh here.
Manjung OCPD Supt Azil Mohd Nor said a woman aged 35 and a 45-year-old man were detained in an operation by the police.
He said the raiding team from Kampung Acheh conducted raids at the three premises following a tip-off.
The fireworks were found hidden in boxes at two of the three shoplots during the raid at 5pm on Friday.
Supt Azil added that they were keeping a close surveillance on the district's coastal area for contraband goods such as fireworks in the coming festive season.
He urged the public to inform the authorities of any suspected smuggling activities
