Can anyone out there help, we've just about ran out of green fuse (nobel industries, inch / second). Does anyone have any for sale or know of any for sale. Failing that does anyone have an alternative with similar properties?

Brimstone,

Welcome to the club...

Since years ago Nobel U.K. discontinued the production of PIC fuse, due to the fact that they found that the commercial value became to low. The only customers they had left for PIC fuse were pyrotechnicians, because the mining industries changed to cheaper and more safe alternatives.

The story goes that Nobel sold the PIC fuse assembly machines, and that some companies continued the production. But up till now nobody seems to know who.

Maybe some other FPM memebers know more, but I'm affraid not...

This is a big problem, what will replace green PIC?

'Mantitor' is what is being sold over here at the moment, this is a similar product, which I believe is manufactured in Brazil, it burns at a rate of about 10 to 13 seconds per foot. However, there have been a few mixed reviews about its reliability, but there is little else on the market.

One of the companies I work with are importing a new waterproof fuse from China which is supposed to the the job will keep you posted.

Of course there is always slow burning Bickford safety fuse, but this means a bit of a re-think of your rigging practices will be needed.

Interfogos,

The mentioned Mantitor PIC fuse is actually made in Brazil by Orica.
But it's not mandatory to be in Brazil in oder to purchase the fuse.

Thank you anyway.

Mantitor is widely available in the UK now, a number of suppliers have it :)

Also through Canada :amuse: That cost 135$/Roll

Thats a pretty good product when you want to set consumer firework on a plywood plate linked together with mantitor ignitor cord. Thats make a very good result i guess :amuse:
